Refusal of a Blood Transfusion

For patients who refuse to receive a blood transfusion on the grounds of religious or other beliefs
Based on our hospital policy, the decision to have a blood transfusion is made equally for all patients regardless of your religious beliefs.

Please note that we have the blood transfusion policy as follows;

  1. When a doctor consider that a blood transfusion is essential to preserve life, the transfusion will be performed regardless of a patient's religion or belief.
  2. We do not sign off a document of 'waiver of blood transfusion'.
  3. You may be referred to another hospital if we cannot obtain consent for a blood transfusion.
